Learn from anything.
At your level.

Learn a language from the videos, articles and PDFs you actually care about. Scribo rewrites them for the learner you are today, clears every word that stops you, and gets to know you as you go.

An example of the card Scribo gives you

Written for the learner
you are now.

Paste a link to an article or a YouTube video, add a PDF or an ebook, or paste text. Scribo rewrites it at your level, in sections you can finish in about five minutes. A whole book comes in parts, all the way to the end.

  • YouTube videos
  • PDF, EPUB and TXT
  • Pasted text
  • Hold a word to see what it means, and save it without leaving the page.
  • Ask Scribo when something doesn't make sense. The chat stays with you until you close the reading.
  • Every rewrite links back to the original article or video.

One paragraph, written for four learners

Why we forget what we read

One day after reading an article, most people remember only a small part of it. The problem is usually not understanding. It is that we never try to what we read. Ideas we put into our own words, even badly, much longer.

Tap an underlined word.

You never pick your level. Scribo works it out from how you learn.

Then make it yours.

When a reading ends, Scribo asks one question about it. Answer in a sentence or two, and it tells you whether you caught the main point.

  • Write in your own language when the words won't come. What matters is putting it into words.
  • Tell Scribo it was too easy or too hard, and the next reading is written a step up or down.

Three minutes a day.

Words you saved come back just before you'd forget them. In between, a sentence to put together, a line to hear, and a question about what you think, answered out loud or in writing.

  • Every answer comes back marked up: what to fix, how to say it more naturally, and how to take it further.
  • Step away halfway and it waits on your Lock Screen. On iPad, write your answers with Apple Pencil.
  • Practice is always free.

In the app, you hear this line from the video itself.

It learns you
while you learn.

No placement test, and no level to pick. Scribo measures five skills from what you actually do, and sees how far you've taken each field you learn about.

Ten steps from A2.1 to C1. Each skill is measured on its own, from what you actually do.
Everything you bring in is filed under a field, and each field climbs from Explore to Understand to Apply.

The more you learn,
the better it knows you.

Once there's enough to go on, Scribo tells you what it has come to understand about you, as a story. Not a report full of numbers, but answers to the questions you already have about yourself.

All right, I've read through it. Here's what I've come to understand.

How does my English sound?

Your sentences have a way about them.

You often start with “I think” and give your reason right away. It sounds thoughtful, like someone working it out as they speak. Now and then, try putting the point first and letting the reason follow.

What really works for me?

I watched what stays with you and what slips away.

Words you meet again inside something you chose stay with you. Words you only see in practice slip away sooner. When a word matters, bring in one more piece on that topic and let it come back on its own.

A habit I hadn't noticed

Now, this one is a little secret.

Some words you save again on days far apart, as if meeting them for the first time. Those are the words asking to be learned properly. Give each one a sentence of your own.

What am I really drawn to?

Different readings, and the same question in each.

An essay on startups, a video about sleep, an article on habits. Different topics, but each time you stopped at the part about how people change their minds.

So, you're…

The Reflective Explorer

An example. For Scribo Pro, AI writes the story from your recent readings, saved words and answers. Everyone sees how it unfolds.

Toward a personal AGI.

Most learning apps remember your streak. Scribo is building a model of you: what you've learned from, the words you made your own, the ideas you understood and put to use, and how you learn best. Today it decides how your next reading is written. Where we're headed, it helps you find what to learn next.

  1. You learn from anythingVideos, articles and books. The words you stop at, the answers you give.
  2. Scribo noticesHow long you stay, what you look up, whether you finish.
  3. It weighs the evidenceAlways against how hard the text was.
  4. It knows you betterYour level in five skills, your fields, your habits.
  5. The next reading fitsWritten for the learner you are now.

Every reading goes around again.

A model of you that stays yours.

  • Answer out loud and your voice turns into text on your device. The recording is never saved or sent.
  • Your level rests on judgments and numbers only. The words you read past never leave your device.
  • Your readings and answers are kept in your own account. The servers that write and mark them pass them through without keeping them, and your name never goes to the AI.
